For the first time in our history, L’Dor Va-Dor had a Christmas Eve service held in our synagogue conducted by the Joy Congregation and led by its pastor Julius Sanna and his family. While our views about Jesus differ from theirs, the love, hope and joy that Christians experience in celebration in the birth of a Jewish idealist 2000 years ago, can be shared by Christians and Jews, even if we see him in different ways. A message of unity, love and the miracle of the birth of each one of us and the potential to play a part in the salvation of our world, was shared by our rabbi, as Jews and Christians enjoyed fellowship and musical uplift at this historic event in the life of our congregation. We will hold many more interfaith activities throughout the year and welcome your suggestions. Here is the message sent by Rabbi Barry Silver to Pastor Julius Sanna after the service.
Dear Pastor Julius:
Thank-you so much for holding your Christmas Eve service with us at L’Dor Va-Dor. Your words were inspiring, your love and joy contagious, the music uplifting, and your family performing together was heartwarming to everyone of all religious faiths and backgrounds. We look forward to joining you in the future for many more interfaith activities.
