Congregation L’Dor Va-Dor has its unique mission to offer a full range of congregational programs for adults, children and seniors. Our beloved Rabbi Barry Silver (z”l) led our congregation (until his passing in March 2024) and evolved us into a synagogue that practices a special blend of modern, progressive Judaism that, while rooted in the Bible, is also grounded in a modern understanding of reason and science. Out of this mission, we have created a special congregation that believes in peace and harmony, attracting people of all faiths and a respectful exchange of ideas and views. Together, we seek understanding and wisdom in our daily lives.
We seek to support the physical and spiritual needs of our community by embracing Jewish ethics and values. We provide unique opportunities to meet through physical and online/virtual programs and services, allowing each individual and their family to participate in a level of spirituality that is uplifting and is shared among friends and congregants. Congregation L’Dor Va-Dor is an established 501c3 entity.
We are constantly cultivating and expanding our membership base through outreach to new members, interfaith Jews and their families with services and programs designed for their unique needs. For more info about membership, please CLICK HERE.
We present our congregation with stimulating, current, and relevant educational activities with emphasis on development of their spiritual lives, prayer, and social consciousness.
We hold Shabbat celebratory services each FRIDAY EVENING at 7 pm in Delray Beach at 5859 Heritage Park Way. We also offer these Shabbat services online virtually via Zoom and live-streaming on YouTube. Members, guests, and friends are all welcomed to attend. We also hold other programs virtually on Zoom on a weekly basis.

Cantor Carol Garrett
Rabbi Carol Robbins-Garrett is currently both the Spiritual Leader and Cantor of Congregation L’Dor Va-Dor. She was ordained as a rabbi by the Rabbinical Seminary International in New York City on June 25, 2026. L’Dor Va-Dor is planning a wonderful concert and celebratory luncheon in honor of this lifetime achievement, becoming Rabbi Carol on Sunday, July 12, 2026. Carol Robbins-Garrett is the Spiritual Leader and Cantor at Congregation L’Dor Va-Dor. She holds a Master’s degree in Education, is a Published Author, Educator, Musician, Composer, and is listed in Who’s Who Among American Teachers. Carol is an “I Make a Difference Teacher of Excellence” Recipient, as well as a “Dwyer Award Nominee”, a Biltmore “Who’s Who” Recipient, a Girl Scout and Boy Scout Volunteer of the Year, a Karuna Reiki Master, an ordained Interfaith Minister and an NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) Practitioner. Carol is happily married for 45 years to James Garrett. Carol is so proud of her three daughters and six grandchildren. We are extremely sad to share the passing of our beloved Rabbi Barry Silver, who lost his long-time battle with cancer, his body finally giving in, on Thursday, March 21, 2024, surrounded by his family in love. He fought the disease valiantly and some did not even know of his debilitating illness due to his strength of character. Rabbi Barry leaves behind an amazing legacy of his rational interpretation of Judaism, “Cosmic Judaism”, uniting science and religion, which he created as an ode to his heroes, Albert Einstein and Carl Sagan. Rabbi is survived by his loving wife, Francine, and his major source of pride, his two sons, Ari and Brandon, his brothers, Josh, Noah, and Dan, his sister-in-law Natalie, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Rabbi Barry served Congregation L’Dor Va-Dor since 1996, emulating his father, Rabbi Sam Silver’s devotion to interfaith harmony, rational Judaism and social action. Rabbi Barry performed Jewish and interfaith weddings, life cycle events, lectures, debates, discusses current events, was an op-ed writer for the Jewish Journal, and a motivational speaker. He was the founder of C osmic Judaism, which merges Judaism and science and was a “Rockin’ Robe” rabbi, offering inspiring and fun Jewish adaptations of rock music.
Rabbi Barry practiced civil, constitutional and abortion rights, public interest, environmental, and personal injury law. He was named Feminist of the Year by Broward NOW, after winning a landmark case in defense of abortion rights, was honored by the Black Police Officers of America for advocacy of civil rights and has received many other awards.
Rabbi Barry served from 1996 to 1998 in the Florida House of Representatives where he was named “Most Effective Environmental Legislator” by the Sierra Club and “Consumer Champion” by Florida’s largest consumer group. Since 1990, he has been included in Who’s Who of American Law for significant contributions to the betterment of society.
Rabbi Barry founded the Palm Beach County Environmental Coalition and Interfaith Justice League and has organized many interfaith rallies, demonstrations and legal efforts on behalf of the environment, civil rights, animal rights, Israel, Native Americans, and the homeless.
