Dear Friends of Congregation L’Dor Va-Dor,
We hope this note finds you well. We welcome you, your friends and family to join together with us as we return to celebrate the upcoming Jewish High Holy Days of September 2023. We will provide our inspiring, rational, dynamic, and musical approach to Judaism, one that is exciting AND enjoyable!
Congregation L’Dor Va-Dor, founded in 1997 and celebrating our 26th anniversary, is led by Rabbi Barry Silver. We are a congregation and a Rabbi committed to social action and making this world a better place every day, most recently fighting to preserve religious freedom and women’s rights in the state of Florida. Our rabbi, former member of the Florida Legislature, columnist for the Jewish Journal, leader of the Environmental Coalition, is building, along with our congregation, the Judaism of Tomorrow today, Cosmic Judaism, based on Jewish wisdom of the past and present along with relevant and modern science.
Our High Holy Day Services are ones that you, your children, and your grandchildren can all attend and enjoy. Hear traditional and contemporary melodies and songs, along with some original music., performed by our clergy, Rabbi Barry Silver, Cantor Carol Garrett, and other guest artists. We invite you to join us for this stimulating, evolving, and exhilarating new perspective of our religion.
We invite you to reserve your seats for our High Holy Day Services for the Jewish New Year of 5784. This year, we need your support to enable L’Dor Va-Dor to continue to serve our local community and for future generations. Our preferred package provides for a seat for all of our High Holy Day services and a generous contribution for our Yom Kippur appeal, and as a bonus, includes one year of membership with our congregation, for a donation of $500. Our standard package provides for a seat for all of our High Holy Day services, for a donation of $95. We welcome any additional contribution towards our Yom Kippur appeal along with the purchase of the standard seat. These High Holy Day packages can be purchased online using any major credit card through this link. You will receive a confirmation email for any purchase or donation.
Services will be held, once again, in the comfort of the Auditorium of the Santaluces Community High School, 6880 Lawrence Rd, Lantana, FL and will be better than ever with creative innovations and uplifting, engaging spirituality and reflection to launch the upcoming Jewish New Year.
We will host our annual food drive on Yom Kippur day, Monday, September 25th, as part of our Tikkun Olam (social action) to aid those in need within our local community. The food drive will be held from 10:00 am ET through 3:30 pm ET at the Santaluces Community High School Auditorium. We hope that you will participate in this mitzvah by bringing and donating non-perishable food items (no glass containers please) on this day to share. Protein food items, such as canned fish, meats, beans, are most in need.
We also will be creating a beautiful Book of Remembrance that will be distributed on Yom Kippur to honor and remember your loved ones. You can add the names of your special family and friends through this link.
We invite you to celebrate Shabbat with us every Friday evening at 7:30 pm ET, in person at The Heritage at Delray, 5859 Heritage Park Way, Delray Beach, Florida 33484. We wish you and your family good health and a beautiful and sweet new year. We look forward to seeing you soon and being able to serve all your Judaic needs today and tomorrow.
With Shalom, Rabbi Barry Silver, Cantor Carol Garrett, & the Board of L’Dor Va-Dor
