Shavuot Holiday – June 11 -12, 2024

June 11, 2024 - June 12, 2024
12:00 am

This is the special holiday of Shavuot, a time remembering the giving of the Torah to the Jewish People on Mount Sinai and a harvest festival.  It is observed from sundown of June 11 through sundown of June 12 this year.  We typically enjoy dairy foods during this holiday, such as cheese, cheesecake.  We will have these foods and more at our Oneg Shabbat following our Shabbat and Shavuot celebration on Friday, June 14th.

Shavuot is one of the holidays when Yizkor, a memorial service remembering our loved ones who have passed, is observed and recited.  Typically, a Yahrzeit candle is lit on the first evening of the holiday and remains burning until sundown of the following day. We are providing a link here of a Yizkor memorial service prepared for you to watch and remember your loved ones:  please CLICK HERE to view.
