Congregation L’Dor Va-Dor is a synagogue which welcomes people of all backgrounds and beliefs to join us in a spiritual setting where our Jewish heritage is cherished, reason is exalted, ideas are exchanged, social action is encouraged, the words of the prophets come alive, and inspiration is shared with all, regardless of one’s financial situation.
Congregation L’Dor Va-Dor was founded by my father, Rabbi Samuel M. Silver, a noted author, lecturer, humorist, and pioneer in interfaith harmony and understanding and my mother Elaine Silver, a concert pianist and music director. I had the incredibly good fortune to work with my father for over a decade as the co-Rabbi of L’Dor Va-Dor and I continue to be blessed with the joy of working with my mother to create a spiritual and uplifting setting to explore Judaism. We strive to create a warm atmosphere where our traditions are cherished and relevant customs are celebrated.
At Congregation L’Dor Va-Dor we believe that religion should not insult our intelligence, thus we prefer science, reason and dialogue over blind faith. By clinging to the idealism of the Jewish prophets, we engage in discussions, social action and fellowship in order to seek knowledge, promote peace, encourage understanding, spread goodwill, help those in need, and protect our planet.
If you have any suggestions or ideas for discussion topics, social action, or ways that we can improve our outreach to the community, please call me any time at (561) 483-6900. I would love to speak to you and greet you at our services and stimulating events.
Rabbi Barry Silver
