TZEDOCRATES
An interesting Discussion Group
Tuesday, September 5th
7:00 pm

Tzedocrates combines the words tzedakah (righteousness/charity) and Socrates whose pioneering spirit and Socratic methods of questions and open mindedness helped mankind advance in wisdom and knowledge. This month’s discussion will be led by Rabbi Barry Silver and guided by Judaic ideals of righteousness and the Socratic method of science and discussion, we will explore vital issues and topics in today’s world. All opinions are welcome.

An interesting Discussion Group

Special Guest Speak and Session:
Dr. Sophia Stone, Ph.D.

Topic:
The connection between Moses and Socrates and the intersection of Jewish and Greek beliefs

Dr. Stone is a professor at Lynn University, specializing in Greek philosophy and is an avid practicing Jew. She will present a lecture and include a discussion about Philo of Alexandria, a Greek-speaking Jew who lived around 2000 years ago and is known to have combined both Judaica and Greek belief systems.

{ Notice the Hebrew letters on the helmet and neck scarf on the image of Philo below! }

 This monthly program is similar in format to the familiar “Socrates” forums held about town, but with a very special touch of Judaism added to the mix. It will encompass an exploration of vital issues and topics in today’s world, guided by a search for righteousness (the true meaning of Tzedakah) and the Socratic method for discussion.

This program will be held in our sanctuary location on the FIRST TUESDAY evening of each month.
